Doesn't seal properly like Diva. Had to buy Diva at whole foods since this was not working and I was on my period! I have used Diva for the past 5 yrs with no issues and needed a 2nd one for travel. So bought Venus thiking that 2 cups would be ideal for different flow days. Bad choice because of 2 reasons1) bell like design at the end doesn't seal properly and2) always had an urge to pee as it pressed against my bladder making it very uncomfortableDesign like a cone (which Diva has) works far more effectively! I'm returning Venus.

Thank you for sharing your feedback after trying the Venus Cup. Menstrual Cups are not a “one-size/type-fits all” just like each of the people who use them. We’re sorry that the shape and size did not fit your anatomy. However, just because it didn’t work for you does not mean there is a flaw in the design. We’re still pleased to hear that you already have a cup that works for you.

    Regards,

    Not working for me.
The small one leaks, the the big one slide down and couldn't stay there
    Reply from Venus Cup Team:
Thank you for taking a moment to share your feedback while using the Venus Cup Starter Kit. We’re sorry to hear that your experience wasn’t a successful one. Here are some tips in case you decide to try either of the sizes again. And as always, you are welcome to contact us directly for one on one support. We’re here to help.

Make sure that the cup is properly placed -
In a squatting position, aim the folded cup down and back towards your tailbone. The cervix isn't normally located straight up into the vaginal canal. Inserting it as such can result in a cup that won't open completely, leaking, shifting or rotating, and/or discomfort and pressure.

Make sure there are no dents -
After the cup is inserted, insert a finger and feel around the rim or as high up on the cup as you can for any dents. If you feel a dent, wiggle the cup down and then use a finger to push it back up into place. Often, when a cup (any cup) is inserted completely, the cervix gets in the way of allowing the rim to fully expand. Wiggling or rocking the cup down will let your cervix correct itself.
Alternatively, you can insert the cup halfway and then let it open before using a finger to push it into place.
Either way will help the cup open before being positioned directly under or around the cervix.
    Excess blood -
There's always some blood coating the vaginal walls even after the cup is placed. To avoid spotting, use a wet pH balanced wipe or cloth to clean the grip rings and stem of any excess blood.
    Overflow -
If you are leaking due to overflow in a short amount of time, the only suggestion I can make is to either empty the cup more often or to try the larger size providing your cervix height allows it.
Please keep in mind that even though we state that you can use the cup for up to 12 hours, it depends on your menstrual flow. Individuals with a very heavy flow may only be able to use the cup for 4-6 hours before they need to empty it.

If a cup feels like it is sliding down, it’s either the wrong size or doesn’t have a good seal.

Again, please feel free to contact us directly. We would be happy to give you one on one support to help you have a successful cup experience.

    Best wishes,

I have used 4-5 different brand cups, but this is the most uncomfortable/difficult cup. It pushes on your bladder and the customer service is non-existent.Pros:-the suction is very strong-it's on the harder sideCons:It does not move as freely(?) as other cups to adjust to your cervix. I have found that some cups will find it's position (for maximum comfort) on its own once they're correctly inserted. But this one, you will have to move around to find the most comfortable position. (If used cups before, I hope this makes sense to you.)So this can lead to it pushing your bladder.-not for people with high cervixAnyway, I have reached out to the customer service, but they didn't respond. So if you're someone who is looking to buy a cup for the first time, who had high cervix, or who is looking for a cup that's more comfortable and easy to pull out, I would buy something else.

    Hello ALLisWell,

I'm sorry to hear that you had such an unpleasant experience while using the Venus Cup Start Kit. I am also very sad that we failed to provide you with excellent customer service. I reply to every troubleshooting correspondence myself, and I don't recall receiving any inquiries about these specific issues through any of our media.
As you know, our bodies are all made differently. The same goes for each menstrual cup. As you have the starter kit, did the smaller, narrower size also press on your bladder? Usually, a smaller cup will relieve this issue.

Seal and suction are two things that differ from one person to the next. I'm sorry that the Venus Cup created such a strong suction for your anatomy.

Although we chose a medium firmness (comparable to the Diva Cup), everyone has a different degree of what soft and firm are. Some individuals will find the Venus Cup to be too soft, others find it too firm, and many will find it just right.

If a menstrual cup is positioned correctly, it should not move freely. That is a potential for leaks. Choosing the correct shape and size for your body will put a cup in the optimal position and will not need to adjust. However, a shorter cup will move up closer to your cervix because the vaginal canal will allow for it. For a user with a low cervix, a short cup will be more comfortable.
If you have a high cervix and a short cup, it may be difficult to remove, as well as allow your cervix to sit deep into the cup and take up the capacity.
A longer cup (like the large Venus Cup), will have the length, is not likely to move up too high, and can be reached easily.

Since you have tried 4-5 different brands, you know that menstrual cups are not a "one size fits all" type of product. I'm just sorry that the Venus Cup wasn't the one for you.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I hope that one of the other 4-5 cups works better for you.

    Best wishes.

14 yr old daughter having hard time with this. Was obviously a bad choice for her.

    Hello Kathleen,

I'm sorry to hear that your teen had some issues learning how to use either size of the Venus Cup. There is a learning curve and it will take some practice. If your teen is willing to try again, some water-based lubricant may be very helpful. The user manual was tailored with new users in mind, so have them browse through that as well. If all else fails, we're here for one on one support. Just contact us directly and we would be happy to work through any issues.
In the end, if your teen is not comfortable with using the Venus Cup, we understand. Menstrual cups are not a "one fits all" type of item and it just may not be the cup or menstrual product for them.

    Best wishes to you both.

Really wanted to love. Kept leaking and had trouble opening. Repositioned and tried different insertion techniques but it was a no go. It was like when it in an uncomfortable position, it semi worked but still leaked. When it was in a better position, it leaked even worse.

    Hi MzMaxxy,

I’m sorry that the Venus Cup didn’t work out for you. It can take some practice whether it’s your first time using a cup or it’s a new cup in your collection. I know that you tried different insertion techniques but I’m going to share some tips that you might have missed. Maybe something below will help.

    - The cervix is not normally located straight up. Instead, insert the folded cup down and back towards your tailbone while in a squat on the ground. This will help put the cup in a better position under or around your cervix.
    - If the cup will not open, try wiggling it down a bit and then use a finger to push it back into place. Often when a cup is inserted completely, the cervix is in the way of letting the rim expand. Wiggling it down will let the cervix correct itself.
    - You can also insert the cup half way, let it expand (below the cervix) and then use a finger to push it up into place.

If you’re spotting after the cup is inserted, try wiping the base and stem with a wet cloth to remove any excess blood. It’s common that there is some blood on the outside of the cup that finds its way out eventually, and inconveniently.

I hope that these tips help with the Venus Cup or any cup. Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly should you ever need support. We’re always here to help.

I purchased this cup last month after my cycle. I started using it this month. It is HORRIBLE! It would NOT open up completely. I have been using menstrual cups for over a year now. I have the Lena cup & a couple of knock off cups (Luna cup & Dutchess cup). Those “knock off” cups were better than the Venus cup! This cup had me feel the need to urinate every second even after I voided. I requested a refund & returned the product (which will be destroyed). Good luck, ladies! I would NOT recommend this cup at all! I will stick with my Lena cup.

Thank you for taking a moment to share your experience with us. I'm sorry to hear that the Venus Cup didn't work out for you. Please remember that we're all different and even though we did our best design a cup that would work for many, there's not a single cup on the market that will work for everyone.
We're happy that you were able to utilize the Amazon refund/return policy and that you have a cup that works great for you even if it's not the Venus Cup.

    Cheers!

  • Locating and Measuring your cervix is one of the best ways to figure out which size will be both easy and comfortable – click here for more details!

  • Yes. When the Venus Cup is placed correctly, it is undetectable by you or anyone else. If the stem is visible from the outside of the body, it can be trimmed down for comfort.
  • Since the Venus Cup is reusable, you will not need to carry extra menstrual protection products.
  • The Venus Cup holds much more than a tampon and you may not need to empty it as often.

It should be! If you have any discomfort with it at any time, you may need to try different folding techniques, using a water-based personal lubricant, or changing the size.

The Venus Cup is great for a light flow, heavy flow, very heavy flow, when you’re expecting your period but not bleeding yet, or even just to stay dry from discharge!

The Venus Cup won’t have the familiar odor as a rotting disposable tampon or pad. Depending on your body and blood, the Venus Cup may periodically have an odor more like the smell of “iron”. This can be resolved – check this article for more info.

Like with all menstrual cups, there is a chance of leaking. This is a very common problem among new users. It may take time and practice getting things just right, but there are some things that can be done to minimize this from happening – click here for more info!
