The Venus Cup collects the menstrual flow instead of absorbing without interfering with the body’s pH balance or natural processes. The Venus Cup is made of 100% Medical Grade Silicone and uses Medical Grade Colorants. The Venus Cup is manufactured in the USA and in an FDA registered facility. It should be! If you have any discomfort with it at any time, you may need to try different folding techniques, using a water-based personal lubricant, or changing the size. The Venus Cup is great for a light flow, heavy flow, very heavy flow, when you’re expecting your period but not bleeding yet, or even just to stay dry from discharge! The Venus Cup won’t have the familiar odor as a rotting disposable tampon or pad. Depending on your body and blood, the Venus Cup may periodically have an odor more like the smell of “iron”. This can be resolved – check this article for more info. Like with all menstrual cups, there is a chance of leaking. This is a very common problem among new users. We appreciate the time you took to share your experience while using the Venus Cups. We’re pleased to learn that you feel that they are more affordable than some of the well-known brand names while still being a valuable addition to the menstrual cup line-up.
If you still have issues with light spotting, use a pH balanced wipe, damp cloth, or even a clean, wet finger (while in the shower) to get rid of any excess blood. Commonly, the presence of excess blood present on the stem or cup’s base can cause spotting. Although it may not be the cup leak, it is still an irritation that can be avoided with a quick clean-up.

Thank you for sharing your experience while using the Venus Cup Starter Kit. We couldn’t be more pleased to learn that it has allowed you to get a good night’s rest even during your heavy flow days. You are absolutely the type of person we were hoping to help with our high-capacity design. Indeed, using a menstrual cup can be messy, but it is also true with tampons and pads. It’s just a different mess. With time and practice, using a cup should get easier and less messy.
Your wisdom and tips are invaluable to individuals who are on the fence. Thank you for pointing them out.
Cheers to saving money and all-night protection!

Cheers to the New Year and to comfortable menstrual cups!
The Venus Cup Team
Thank you for sharing your experience while using both the small and large Venus Cup. We’re pleased to hear that the small cup was 5 stars in your book. However, although the small and large cups have the same total length, we’re sorry that you felt that the stem on the large was too short. If it’s possible (depending on where you are when emptying the cup) it may be easier to squat or bear down with your muscles to push the cup closer to the vaginal opening.

Thank you for sharing your detailed experience while using the Venus Cup. We couldn’t be more pleased to hear that it was quick and easy to use, and that it had the capacity that you were hoping for, especially overnight.
Indeed the base is wider, but it is what allows a higher capacity. We are happy that it was not only comfortable, but actually helpful to you in knowing when to empty it.
You can be sure that we will not change anything about the design of this particular Venus Cup. We use and love it too!

Second, thank you for choosing the Venus Cup as your first menstrual cup. We couldn’t be more pleased that it was easy for you to use. I’m sure that watching videos really helped you to be prepared for what to expect.
The Venus Cup is made of medical grade silicone and is safe to use all day as long as it is removed at least twice during the day for a good rinse; whether you’re bleeding or not. Some people use it on a daily basis to collect discharge and keep moisture at bay. If you feel comfortable using it day to day and are confident that you will have good hygiene habits, there is no need to carry it in your pocket just in case of surprises.
Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any other questions or concerns.
Cheers to all day period protection!
The Venus Cup Team
Thank you for sharing your experience thus far with the Venus Cup Starter Kit. Although your previous cup is a reputable, well-known brand name, the Venus Cup is quite different in shape and size. If you’re looking for a high capacity cup, I hope the Venus Cup continues to work well while being easy and comfortable to use.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you need support. We’re here for you.

One great tip we’ve come across is to tuck your thumbnail under the pointer fingernail so that a rounded surface is entered into the vaginal canal. Once inserted, shift the fingers apart to pinch the cup with the fingertips.

Make sure that the cup is properly placed -
In a squatting position, aim the folded cup down and back towards your tailbone. The cervix isn't normally located straight up into the vaginal canal. Inserting it as such can result in a cup that won't open completely, leaking, shifting or rotating, and/or discomfort and pressure.
Make sure there are no dents -
After the cup is inserted, insert a finger and feel around the rim or as high up on the cup as you can for any dents. If you feel a dent, wiggle the cup down and then use a finger to push it back up into place. Often, when a cup (any cup) is inserted completely, the cervix gets in the way of allowing the rim to fully expand. Wiggling or rocking the cup down will let your cervix correct itself.
Alternatively, you can insert the cup halfway and then let it open before using a finger to push it into place.
Either way will help the cup open before being positioned directly under or around the cervix.
Excess blood -
There's always some blood coating the vaginal walls even after the cup is placed. To avoid spotting, use a wet pH balanced wipe or cloth to clean the grip rings and stem of any excess blood.
Overflow -
If you are leaking due to overflow in a short amount of time, the only suggestion I can make is to either empty the cup more often or to try the larger size providing your cervix height allows it.
Please keep in mind that even though we state that you can use the cup for up to 12 hours, it depends on your menstrual flow. Individuals with a very heavy flow may only be able to use the cup for 4-6 hours before they need to empty it.
If a cup feels like it is sliding down, it’s either the wrong size or doesn’t have a good seal.
Again, please feel free to contact us directly. We would be happy to give you one on one support to help you have a successful cup experience.

Indeed, the Venus Cup is much softer than the Lunette, but we chose an overall medium firmness closer to another well-known brand. We understand that some individuals will still find it too soft or too firm. We’re just happy that you were able to work around it.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you need support even if you are a very long time cup user.

Thank you for taking a moment to share your experience and feedback while using the Venus Cup Starter Kit. We’re happy to hear that the small has been easy to use. However, we’re sorry that the stem on the larger Venus Cup is harder to reach. Although the overall length of the cups are the same size, they may sit differently while inserted, causing the difficulty. I hope that over time the large becomes easier to use. Please don’t hesitate to contact directly should you ever need support.
Happy Holidays. Stay well.

*Pro User Tip: Placing a small sheet of toilet paper on the water's surface before emptying the contents will keep the blood from sticking to the bottom of the bowl.

*Pro User Tip: The cervix isn't normally located straight up into the vaginal canal, but more slanted to the back (near the rectum). In a squatting position, aim the folded cup down and back towards your tailbone. This will place the cup in a better position near the cervix.

*Pro User Tip: A common issue when a cup (any cup) is inserted completely, is that the cervix gets in the way of allowing the rim to fully expand. It can also push the cervix to the side and cause leaking. Wiggle or rock the cup down to let your cervix correct itself before pushing it back into place.
Thank you for taking a moment to share your positive experience with the Venus Cup. I couldn't be more pleased to hear that it has worked well. Especially after a few failed attempts. I'm also honored to hear that you won't be using anything else!

*Pro User Tip: To avoid spotting, after inserting the Venus Cup, use a wet pH balanced wipe or damp cloth to clean the grip rings and stem of any excess blood.
Thank you for taking a moment to share your experience with the Venus Cup. I'm sorry to hear that it was not a good option for you. It sounds like you may need a softer cup if you choose to give them another try. Remember that menstrual cups hold more than tampons. For many, even with a heavy flow, this eliminates the need to empty the cup but morning and evening.
I hope that you can find an eco-friendly period product even if it's not the Venus Cup.
Cheers,
The Venus Cup Team
