The large-sized Venus Cup is perfect for those who have a heavier flow or those who experience clotting.

The large would also be easier to reach for those who have a medium to a high cervix, or a very high cervix.

You may prefer this size if you have a light to moderate flow for the extra capacity and wearing time up to 12 hours.

The large Venus Cup has a capacity of 38ml to the air holes and 47ml to the rim. This is about 30% more than the average large sized cup and is equal to approximately 9 regular absorbency tampons.

Larger cups sometimes lose their firmness near the rim and can be difficult to open.  We have included an invisible secondary rim in which the silicone is slightly thicker near the air holes, as well as an inner ring for reinforcement. Both of these features will aid in helping the cup to open after the fold is released.

I've used cups for a while, my go to is always Blossom cup, but I wanted to try this one because it held more. And it does, it holds more, I do like the design, but it is a BIG CUP! I mean, duh, of course it is, it holds more, but it took me a while to teach myself how to get it in without taking forever or getting frustrated. I could see ladies with smaller hoohas struggling. I am a heavy bleeder so I needed a cup that hold more. This one will be great, but just be prepared!

Thank you for taking a moment to share your feedback about using the large Venus Cup. Indeed, the Venus Cup has a rounded base compared to your “V”-shaped cup, but the body length and rim diameter are only 2mm longer and wider (slightly thicker than an average US coin). Thank you for sticking through the learning curve with our cup even though you aren’t new to using menstrual cups in general.

We’re always here for support. Don’t hesitate to contact us directly should you need to.

    Cheers to high-capacity cups!

I have a variety of menstrual cups and this is the only one that hasn't stained. Additionally, I have extremely heavy days for the first three days that when I used to use tampons, I had to change the overnight ones every 2 hours. With this specific cup, it can go for up to 4 hours. I love to travel a lot as well so if my period falls on travel days, this is the only cup I can trust paired with some period panties for long flights.

    Hi Joy,

Thank you for sharing your experience while using the large Venus Cup. We’re pleased to hear that it hasn’t shown any signs of staining. To be truthful, it can stain just like any other menstrual cup. Changes in the color, texture, and how long the blood takes to exit the body can cause these stains from time to time. If you notice stains building up, a short soak in an equal mix of over the counter Hydrogen Peroxide and water can help keep your cup looking shiny and new.

We also love that you can trust the Venus Cup during your travels!

Thank you for your feedback while using the large Venus Cup. We couldn’t be more pleased to hear that it was easier to remove for your high cervix and more comfortable to wear.

As for your slight leaking issue, try wiping the stem and base of the cup after it’s inserted. Sometimes excess blood will cause spotting.

We’re sorry to hear that the large Venus Cup didn’t work for you right from the start. There is a learning curve and may take some practice and some time to get adjusted to using it.

The large Venus Cup is one of the top three highest capacity cups on the market. When used correctly it should give you some extra wear time during your busy day.

If you decide to try it again, here are some tips that might help:

    - In a squatting position, aim the folded cup down and back towards your tailbone. The cervix isn't normally located straight up into the vaginal canal. Inserting it as such can result in a cup that won't open completely, leaking, shifting or rotating, and/or discomfort and pressure.

    - After the cup is inserted, insert a finger and feel around the rim or as high up on the cup as you can for any dents. If you feel a dent, wiggle the cup down and then use a finger to push it back up into place. Often, when a cup (any cup) is inserted completely, the cervix gets in the way of allowing the rim to fully expand. Wiggling or rocking the cup down will let your cervix correct itself.

Alternatively, you can insert the cup halfway and then let it open before using a finger to push it into place.

Either way will help the cup open before being positioned directly under or around the cervix.

    - There's always some blood coating the vaginal walls even after the cup is placed. To avoid spotting, use a wet pH balanced wipe or cloth to clean the grip rings and stem of any excess blood.

Thank you for sharing your feedback while using the large Venus Cup. Although we kept the Venus Cup at a medium firmness, some individuals may find it too soft or too firm. We’re just sorry that you were one of them.

If you decide to try it again, below are some tips that might help:

    Proper placement during insertion -

In a squatting position, aim the folded cup down and back towards your tailbone. The cervix isn't normally located straight up into the vaginal canal. Inserting it as such can result in a cup that won't open completely, leaking, shifting or rotating, and/or discomfort and pressure. It may also prohibit the cup from opening.

    No dents -

After the cup is inserted, insert a finger and feel around the rim or as high up on the cup as you can for any dents.

    Feels too soft -

Insert the cup and then insert a single finger next to the cup’s body and press it into the vaginal wall. Wider cups or cups with a rounded base may need room to expand. Let the cup slowly open against your finger.

I hope that one of these tips results in a successful experience. Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you need further support.

Thank you for sharing your feedback while using the large Venus Cup. We’re sorry that it wasn’t the perfect cup for you right from the start. We hope that the tips below will help you have a better experience if you decide to try it again.

    Inserting:

-Squatting down while inserting the cup will put your cervix closer to the vaginal opening and give you easier reach. It will also help you angle the cup correctly down and back towards your tailbone.

    Use and leaking:

-The cervix isn't normally located straight up into the vaginal canal. Inserting it as such can result in a cup that won't open completely, leaking, shifting or rotating, and/or discomfort and pressure.

-After the cup is inserted, insert a finger and feel around the rim or as high up on the cup as you can for any dents.

-Use a wet pH balance wipe or damn cloth to clean any excess blood off of the stem and/or cup base. Excess blood can cause spotting which often makes users think that they are leaking from the cup itself.

    Removal:

-Squatting in a tub or shower will help bring the cervix and cup closer to the vaginal opening and give you easier access. It will also allow you to reach the base of the cup to pinch and release the seal. Cleaning up is simple if there are any overflows or spills.

I hope these tips help. Please feel free to contact us directly for one on one support. We’re always here for you.

We’re sorry to hear that you didn’t have a pleasant experience while using the large Venus Cup. Please understand that it may take practice to perfect. There will always be some mess, whether you’re using pads, tampons, sponges, period underwear, and yes, even menstrual cups.

Here are some tips that may help:

-Use a wet pH balance wipe or damn cloth to clean any excess blood off of the stem and/or cup base. Excess blood can cause spotting which often makes users think that they are leaking from the cup itself.

    Removal:

-Squatting in a tub or shower will help bring the cervix and cup closer to the vaginal opening and give you easier access. It also makes for a simple clean-up if there are any overflows or spills until you get the hang of it.

This item is a godsend for heavy periods. I have suffered two plus months of trauma induced menorrhagia. Diva B just wasn't cutting it, having to empty that every 45 min. This Venus was purchased two weeks in and allowed me to get 1 1/2 hours sleep before the horrible slosh and pour leak-feeling. Not complaining. Nothing is perfect with serious medical issues. I will be continuing with this one when my months are back to normal military schedules they were. Tough being a girl. Grateful for the people who invented these cups!!

Thank you for sharing your feedback while using the large Venus Cup. Although the larger size is slightly longer than some average cups, we’re sorry that you found the stem too short for easy and comfortable removal. Since the body alone is on the long side, we only included the stem to locate and wiggle the cup down until the base can be pinched.

If you decide to try the large Venus Cup again, squatting in a tub or shower will help push your cervix down. You can use your pelvic floor muscles to push it lower even further.

Look I'm not here to sugarcoat things, if you're looking at reviews about a menstrual cup you should be familiar with menstruation so here's what led me to this place:I have a heavy flow the first two days. Like, I remember being so happy to learn about Ultra size tampons when they became available and still I could bleed through an ultra tampon every 30-40 minutes on what I usually refer to as hell day. (And yes, my dr is aware of this, it isn't health related just the hand I was dealt) So a friend had suggested trying a cup which she used because she's a hippie and it's eco friendly. I was down to try it cuz it couldn't hurt, in theory it should hold what I need it to and all that. So back then there were way fewer options in cups so I went with the always popular Diva. Now I have always had short fingers. I knew it ahead of time. However what I was not previously aware of is that my cervix is waaaaay up in there and my stumpy little sausage fingers could just barely touch the stupid cup, let alone grab the thing. I pushed, I squatted, I rolled all around, I put a leg up, I did the chicken dance. If it didn't seat properly I ALWAYS had to get my husband involved because there was nothing filling it to get gravity involved. Eventually I sort of worked out a passable routine where if I really pushed against the front of the toilet bowl I could leverage enough of my hand up inside while bearing down to get the thing out. And for all that struggle the cup really didn't buy me that much extra time vs the much easier to deal with tampons. I genuinely gave the diva the old college try, sadly we were not compatible.I gave up but after a few years decided to shop around to see if I could find a cup that might be a better fit, pun 100% intended. I found super Jennie and honestly had a much better experience. I still had to really bear down hard to get a hold of the thing and even then it was hit or miss sometimes, but the cup was bigger and I was getting more like 2-3 hours between dumping it on hell day and that was more than enough to make it worth it for a while. And I was still heavily reliant on gravity to help, basically I needed the cup to be FULL to help me push it out with any kind of ease or comfort, so for the second half of my period the cup was basically useless. But also I still had the issue with it if the cup didn't pop open right where I basically just had to fish it out and try again. All the paperwork and my friend who'd been using cups for almost a decade at this point were like you just kinda spin it and it should open up, but legit there was no way my short ass fingers could get up there far enough to spin anything without it being past the point of no return on its way out.Over time I ended up accidentally breaking the stem off the Jennie so I figured I'd shop around again before replacing it and I found this cup, the Venus. It's listed as slightly higher capacity than even the Jennie so that was an automatic bonus for me, but it's shaped differently and for the first time in almost 7 years of trying to convert to using a cup I can actually reach the thing without having to pop a blood vessel in my eye straining to get it to where I can reach it. Like I can adjust it so it pops without taking it out. I can reach it without smashing my hand bones against the toilet bowl rim. I'm pretty sure I'm already in love with this cup and Ive only been using it for a day.Even with all my struggles I recommend cups as a good solution to period containment overall because I know most women don't face the logistical issues that I do, but now when I do recommend them I can feel like less of a fraud.

I've had this Venus cup 2 years, best period purchase! I'm a tall long-waisted gal with super plus heavy flow especially after two 10lb babies. Occasionally I don't get a good seal usually when I'm rushed and forget to twist. It's such a relief to not flow over super plus tampons overnight pads having to change clothes and sheets during the night. Heavy periods run in my family. It feels less bulky to have one large Venus cup and a dayliner for my workouts, more ease of mind I can make it without needing a bathroom break to see how everything is holding. And no odor! It is quite messy in the bathroom. A couple times so over-full it popped out while peeing, I had to be quick to catch it or fish it out of the toilet bowl. I have a portable bidet (squirt bottle with angle nozzle) to help with bathroom cleaning myself and power-rinse cup to reinsert. I recommend the largest capacity portable bidet with cold water. Saves space going on trips with only the Venus cup, thin pads/day liners, portable bidet, all fit in my purse. No more bulky boxes of various tampons and pads of all sizes, extra underwear and plastic bags... It's nice to not fill the trash with all those tampons, pads, plastic wrappers/bags and saves money too!

Thank you for sharing your feedback while using the large Venus Cup. We’re sorry that you had some comfort issues with its size. If you find it too wide, you can try turning it inside out to see if it’s easier to insert and more comfortable to wear. It is safe to use this way as long as you are able to remove it without a stem. If this does not sound like something you’re interested in, the smaller size might be a better option for your anatomy. Here is some additional information that might be helpful:

Locating and Measuring your Cervix - https://venuscup.com/cervix/

Here are some tips if you decide to try the large Venus Cup again:

    1. Squat down during insertion and removal -

In a squatting position, aim the folded cup down and back towards your tailbone. The cervix isn't normally located straight up into the vaginal canal. Inserting it as such can result in a cup that won't open completely, leaking, shifting or rotating, and/or discomfort and pressure.

    2. Make sure there are no dents -

After the cup is inserted, insert a finger and feel around the rim or as high up on the cup as you can for any dents.

    3. Excess blood -

There's always some blood coating the vaginal walls even after the cup is placed. To avoid spotting, use a wet pH balanced wipe or cloth to clean the grip rings and stem of any excess blood.

This is the fourth different brand of cup I have owned and easily my favorite one. It is very comfortable! The firmness of the material make it slightly harder to fold and insert but it is well worth it. Bc of the firmness you feel it pop open and you know it's about to catch whatever is coming with an unwavering strength. Easier to remove than insert but neither are challenging. The large size is a great length and fit for someone with a really high cervix and slightly limited mobility due to lower back issues. Would recommend!!

We’re sorry that the large Venus Cup was not comfortable for your anatomy. Although we tried to keep it at a medium firmness (slightly softer than one of the most popular brands), it will still be too soft or too firm for some individuals.

If you’re comfortable removing the cup without a stem, you can try turning it inside out to see if it relieves some pressure. If it still feels too firm, the small Venus Cup is a narrower option that holds close to the capacity of an average large-sized cup.

Of course I had to use a liner every single time so trying to find another solution this came up, AND LET ME TELL YOU I WILL NEVER ISE A PAD OR TAMPON AGAIN !!!! I have a high cervix and I had a lot of trouble with the Diva cup. This is much better because the pull tab is easier to grip. It's still a little challenging for me, but I think it's as good as I'm going to get and I didn't have to struggle. It's worth it for being able to wear longer and to not have to buy tampons. The holes at the top are also larger than the Diva. It is a bit stiffer, but doesn't bother me. It also didn't stain, which is nice!

Thank you for sharing your positive experience while using the large Venus Cup. We’re happy to hear that it was easier for you to use compared to your previous cup.

If you ever find it hard to reach, try squatting in the tub or shower for easier access and to bring the cup closer to the vaginal opening.

Also, if the Venus Cup ever starts to stain, soak it in a 50/50 mixture of over the counter Hydrogen Peroxide and water for an hour or so. Doing this a couple times a year should freshen the Venus Cup right up.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us at any time. We’re always here to support you.

We’re sorry that the large Venus Cup did not fit you comfortably. Although the large Venus Cup is the same length and diameter as some reputable and well-known brands, it will never be a ‘one-size-fits-all’ product.

The narrower, small-sized Venus Cup might be more comfortable for your anatomy. However, we invite you to read through the information about cervical height if you found it too long as opposed to too wide.

We understand that first impressions are a huge deal and we’re sorry that the large Venus Cup didn’t start off strong for your anatomy. We appreciate that you will be giving it another try and would like to share a suggestion that might help you have success on your next go around.

It is our understanding that your current cup is very firm. Although the Venus Cup is a medium firmness, it will be a change that could need some adjustment.

Very firm cups can open without interference from the cervix. However, sometimes a very firm cup can be painful or cause irritation if it hits the cervix.

A softer cup, even one with a medium firmness like the Venus Cup, may need to open below the cervix before being positioned. Insert the cup halfway, release the fold, and then push it into place.

We hope that this helps and that you are able to utilize the capacity of the large Venus Cup. Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you need one of one support. We’re here for you!
