The large-sized Venus Cup is perfect for those who have a heavier flow or those who experience clotting.

The large would also be easier to reach for those who have a medium to a high cervix, or a very high cervix.

You may prefer this size if you have a light to moderate flow for the extra capacity and wearing time up to 12 hours.

The large Venus Cup has a capacity of 38ml to the air holes and 47ml to the rim. This is about 30% more than the average large sized cup and is equal to approximately 9 regular absorbency tampons.

Larger cups sometimes lose their firmness near the rim and can be difficult to open.  We have included an invisible secondary rim in which the silicone is slightly thicker near the air holes, as well as an inner ring for reinforcement. Both of these features will aid in helping the cup to open after the fold is released.

The first day and a half of my period is a nightmare to control. I used to have to use the super plus tampons and I had to change them every 1-2 hours or wear back up leak protection. A few years ago, I transitioned to a menstrual cup, which was a big improvement, but I still had to empty it about every 2 hours during the heaviest part of my cycle. The stem on my old cup broke, so I ordered this one and Yes! This is the product I've been waiting for! It has the capacity to handle heavy flow, but is still comfortable for lighter flow as well. It creates a good deal and is easy to use. Excellent product, I highly recommend!
    Reply from Venus Cup Team:
We understand your situation with using super plus tampons and still having to change them all too frequently. We experienced the same in our ‘disposable’ times. That is the exact reason we designed the Venus Cup the way we did for our fellow heavy bleeders.
We couldn’t be more pleased to learn that the large Venus Cup works excellent for your situation and anatomy. We hope that it continues to be easy and comfortable to use while also providing you with excellent protection.
    Cheers to high-capacity menstrual cups!

Product is comfortable. I wanted to try a different brand and I'm satisfied with my purchase. This is light weight compared to my previous brand. I think this makes it more comfortable. However, the thinner design makes it a little more difficult to ensure it's in far enough yo get proper fit. Just an adjustment phase I'm sure.

I have a heavy flow 2-3 days and usually have to use a cup with a pad, changing pads 3 times a day. With this cup I still wore a pad with it on my heavy days but did not need change it multiple times a day. This is by far the best capacity cup I have ever bought and I've bought a few. It's comfortable, and easy to insert and take out (but I've been using cups for well over a decade) I will not need to buy another brand again this is perfect.

Why didn't I know about these earlier in life?!?! Never waste money on sanitary products again and stop living in fear of the 'heavy' days! As I got older my periods began to get heavier and more erratic. This little cup changed my life! No more bleeding through my pad/tampon combos or being tied to bathrooms to continually have to swap out sanitary supplies. Not to mention you get 12 hrs (instead of 8) before you have to worry about TSS. There is a learning curve on getting it in securely, removing it without making a mess and being able to empty it discreetly in public restrooms but it's SO worth it!

I changed to a cup about 2 years ago to help mitigate chronic bv and yeast infections caused from the Mirena, even after it was removed. I like that I don't have to worry about tampons and tss but my Saalt cup wasn't large enough to handle my heavy day and had to empty it every 2-3 hours. The large Venus is just what I was looking for. The longest I left it in on the heavy day was about 7 hours and still no leaks. Finally a cup that I don't have to constantly worry about!!Because of its size the large Venus was a little more difficult to insert and open the first time with a light flow so I used a water-based lube on the rim and it slipped in and opened up with no issue. Other than no leaks with the large Venus there were no other noticeable differences between the Venus and the Saalt cups once inserted. I'm very pleased with the large Venus and would recommend it to others who need larger capacity.

    Hi Julie,
Thank you for sharing your feedback while trying the Venus Cup. We’re sorry to hear that the large felt too big and that you experienced it sliding down. You can try turning it inside out if you feel confident that you can remove it without a stem. It is safe to use this way and will give you an idea if a smaller, shorter, and narrower cup would be more suitable for your anatomy.

I think I ordered the wrong size because this was wayyyyy to big for me. I haven't had children yet so I should've went with a smaller size. Very uncomfortable to put in and taking it out took me forever. Also . I felt it at all times. One time it went up too far & that was a disaster because the stem is really short.
    Reply from Venus Cup Team:
Thank you for taking a moment to share your feedback while using the large Venus Cup. We’re sorry to hear that it didn’t work out as you hoped it would. Although bearing children isn’t a rule of thumb for using the larger size, it does sound like it was too wide for your comfort. We feel that the smaller Venus Cup would be a better option for your anatomy.
If you choose to try the large again in the future, try squatting down while inserting and removing the cup. It will help bring it closer to the vaginal opening and give you an easier reach.

This is the best cup yet! I get minimal leaks and I actually feel comfortable wearing this at work. With other cups, I've experienced bad leaks but with this cup, I'm confident that it will do what it's supposed to do. It's not perfect, but it's user friendly and gets the job done.

Thank you for sharing your experience while using the large Venus Cup. We’re pleased to hear that it has worked well during your busy workdays. However, let’s try to stop those peaky leaks. After inserting the cup, use a pH-balanced wet wipe or damp cloth to clean up any excess blood from the stem and base as best as you can. This will help clear up any spotting. However, if you’re overflowing the cup, you may need to set a time to empty the cup a little sooner than you have been.
I hope that one of these methods helps. If not, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly for one on one support.

    Reply from Venus Cup Team:
We’re sorry to hear that you had some issues with the large Venus Cup. It is normal to have different odors as our bodies change from month to month. The slightest upset in the pH balance can cause our discharge to look and smell different. But it doesn’t always mean that something is wrong. This is the same for staining. The cup, any cup, can become stained depending on how thick and dark your menses for the month. Neither issue will likely happen every month. Diet, work-outs, medications, stress, etc., can also affect our bodies and hormones differently, including our menstrual flow.
If possible, we suggest letting your cup air dry near a sunny window. The odor, as well as stains, should fade.
Please contact us directly if you have any further issues. We would be happy to troubleshoot with you.

First-time cup user here and let me say at first It was a bit unsure due to the fact that I couldn't remove it easily. Now that some time has passed I decided to write my review and let me just say I am a pro-cup woman! Outside of the obvious money you save. The cup is less work, LESS WASTE, less mess, blocks out any odors, and most importantly it's extremely comfortable. I have forgotten I had this cup in I don't know how many times. The suction is amazing I never experienced a leak using this product and I have to say for my first time using the cup I am glad I tried using it with this company. The cup is made with superior quality and they simply know what they were doing. Extremely satisfied I implore you to try this cup.

Indeed, menstrual cups can be messy. Especially when you’re learning to use one; if you’re new to using cups or if a cup is new to you. After some practice, it will become easier and less messy. If you are able to use the cup until you are at home, you can empty it in the shower for a quick clean-up. If you are out during the day when it needs to be emptied, a couple of pH-balanced wet wipes can be carried discreetly in a baggie in your pocket.

I started using cups about 2 or 3 years ago before I started to get premenopausal symptoms after I turned 50. I thought having my period when I was younger was traumatic but that was a piece of cake compared to having a period during premenopause. What I mean by that is that having a period after going 2 or 3 months without one is one bloody mess (sorry to say it so graphically but it is). The bleeding and clotting is so excessive that I have to change my supersized tampon every hour (every 2 to 3 hrs at bedtime). Not only do I wear a supersized tampon but also a supersized maxi pad as even sometimes the tampon can't control the flow. This will go on for at least 2 or 3 days so you can imagine the amount of tampons I flush down the toilet when I now get my period. I was using a cup prior to premenopause but this wasn't an option for me to use during premenopause when I was at work because I have no privacy at work to clean out my cup and reinsert. However I now work remotely so I do use the cup and I change it out every 2-3 hours (yes the flow is that heavy for some of us). I have used other cups including Diva and I do like this one the best as it holds the most and it doesn't look grungy or discolored like some other cups after a few uses.Do I still hate premenopause? Yes!!!! But is it more bearable and friendlier to the environment using this cup? Heck yes!!! They may appear to be pricey at first but if you do the math, you will find that these cups are actually a bargain and more effective than a tampon and maxi pad combined. I still use a thin maxi pad or panty liner for the occasional leaks or dribble but you really don't have to once you get use to popping these babies in. I'm super paranoid about any period stains so I always back it up with a liner/pad on my heavy days just to be sure. Lol
    Reply from Venus Cup Team:
Thank you for sharing your experience while using the large Venus Cup. Your feedback was very detailed and may give other users the insight into how a menstrual cup can be helpful. Either for an irregular flow or during an unpredictable time like perimenopause or menopause.
We also sympothize with you on heavy bleeding and clotting. It is one of the big reason we designed the Venus Cup.
We couldn’t be more pleased to hear that it has performed the best out of the cups you’ve tried so far.
Here are a couple of tips that might make your experience even more successful:
-After inserting the cup, use a wet pH-balance wipe or damp cloth to clean any excess blood from the stem and grip rings. This will eliminate some of the spotting.
-Changes in the color, texture, and how long the blood takes to exit the body can cause stains from time to time. It is safe to soak the Venus Cup for a day or two in a 50/50 mix of water and over-the-counter Hydrogen Peroxide to make it looking good as new. Just rinse the cup well before re-inserting.

    Hi Latisha,
Thank you for sharing some feedback while using the large Venus Cup. We’re pleased to hear that it is easy to use, has a high capacity, and that you didn’t experience any leaks.
Here’s a tip that might help during insertion: Squat on the ground or in the tub/shower. This pushes your cervix closer to the vaginal opening and gives you an easier reach to place the cup. It also helps you place the cup in the correct position.

I've used cups for a while, my go to is always Blossom cup, but I wanted to try this one because it held more. And it does, it holds more, I do like the design, but it is a BIG CUP! I mean, duh, of course it is, it holds more, but it took me a while to teach myself how to get it in without taking forever or getting frustrated. I could see ladies with smaller hoohas struggling. I am a heavy bleeder so I needed a cup that hold more. This one will be great, but just be prepared!

Thank you for taking a moment to share your feedback about using the large Venus Cup. Indeed, the Venus Cup has a rounded base compared to your “V”-shaped cup, but the body length and rim diameter are only 2mm longer and wider (slightly thicker than an average US coin). Thank you for sticking through the learning curve with our cup even though you aren’t new to using menstrual cups in general.

I have a variety of menstrual cups and this is the only one that hasn't stained. Additionally, I have extremely heavy days for the first three days that when I used to use tampons, I had to change the overnight ones every 2 hours. With this specific cup, it can go for up to 4 hours. I love to travel a lot as well so if my period falls on travel days, this is the only cup I can trust paired with some period panties for long flights.
    Reply from Venus Cup Team:
    Hi Joy,
Thank you for sharing your experience while using the large Venus Cup. We’re pleased to hear that it hasn’t shown any signs of staining. To be truthful, it can stain just like any other menstrual cup. Changes in the color, texture, and how long the blood takes to exit the body can cause these stains from time to time. If you notice stains building up, a short soak in an equal mix of over the counter Hydrogen Peroxide and water can help keep your cup looking shiny and new.
We also love that you can trust the Venus Cup during your travels!

This cup is very affordable and the quality of the silicone is great. Too soft, hard to insert while maintaining it's shape
It was a nice size, although, because it is very, soft, it was hard to insert, and it wouldn't expand properly, because of the soft material.
    Reply from Venus Cup Team:
Thank you for sharing your feedback while using the large Venus Cup. Although we kept the Venus Cup at a medium firmness, some individuals may find it too soft or too firm. We’re just sorry that you were one of them.
If you decide to try it again, below are some tips that might help:

    Proper placement during insertion -
In a squatting position, aim the folded cup down and back towards your tailbone. The cervix isn't normally located straight up into the vaginal canal. Inserting it as such can result in a cup that won't open completely, leaking, shifting or rotating, and/or discomfort and pressure. It may also prohibit the cup from opening.
    No dents -
After the cup is inserted, insert a finger and feel around the rim or as high up on the cup as you can for any dents. If you feel a dent, wiggle the cup down and then use a finger to push it back up into place. Often, when a cup (any cup) is inserted completely, the cervix gets in the way of allowing the rim to fully expand. Wiggling or rocking the cup down will let your cervix correct itself.
Alternatively, you can insert the cup halfway and then let it open before using a finger to push it into place.
Either way will help the cup open before being positioned directly under or around the cervix.
    Feels too soft -
Insert the cup and then insert a single finger next to the cup’s body and press it into the vaginal wall. Wider cups or cups with a rounded base may need room to expand. Let the cup slowly open against your finger.

I hope that one of these tips results in a successful experience. Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you need further support.

    Reply from Venus Cup Team:
We’re sorry to hear that you didn’t have a pleasant experience while using the large Venus Cup. Please understand that it may take practice to perfect. There will always be some mess, whether you’re using pads, tampons, sponges, period underwear, and yes, even menstrual cups.

Here are some tips that may help:
-Use a wet pH balance wipe or damn cloth to clean any excess blood off of the stem and/or cup base. Excess blood can cause spotting which often makes users think that they are leaking from the cup itself.
    Removal:
-Squatting in a tub or shower will help bring the cervix and cup closer to the vaginal opening and give you easier access. It also makes for a simple clean-up if there are any overflows or spills until you get the hang of it.

Thank you for sharing your feedback while using the large Venus Cup. We’re sorry that it wasn’t the perfect cup for you right from the start. We hope that the tips below will help you have a better experience if you decide to try it again.

    Inserting:
-Squatting down while inserting the cup will put your cervix closer to the vaginal opening and give you easier reach. It will also help you angle the cup correctly down and back towards your tailbone.

    Use and leaking:
-The cervix isn't normally located straight up into the vaginal canal. Inserting it as such can result in a cup that won't open completely, leaking, shifting or rotating, and/or discomfort and pressure.
-After the cup is inserted, insert a finger and feel around the rim or as high up on the cup as you can for any dents. Removal:
-Squatting in a tub or shower will help bring the cervix and cup closer to the vaginal opening and give you easier access. It will also allow you to reach the base of the cup to pinch and release the seal. Cleaning up is simple if there are any overflows or spills.

This item is a godsend for heavy periods. I have suffered two plus months of trauma induced menorrhagia. Diva B just wasn't cutting it, having to empty that every 45 min. This Venus was purchased two weeks in and allowed me to get 1 1/2 hours sleep before the horrible slosh and pour leak-feeling. Not complaining. Nothing is perfect with serious medical issues. I will be continuing with this one when my months are back to normal military schedules they were. Tough being a girl. Grateful for the people who invented these cups!!

Very uncomfortable to remove, especially grabbing on to the stem.
    Reply from Venus Cup Team:
Thank you for sharing your feedback while using the large Venus Cup. Although the larger size is slightly longer than some average cups, we’re sorry that you found the stem too short for easy and comfortable removal. Since the body alone is on the long side, we only included the stem to locate and wiggle the cup down until the base can be pinched.
If you decide to try the large Venus Cup again, squatting in a tub or shower will help push your cervix down. You can use your pelvic floor muscles to push it lower even further.

This Venus cup is the best! It's easy to put in and easy to take out and it seems to pop open easily when inserting. The 'tail' of it is very easy to grab when pulling it out and my fingers don't just slip off bc it's textured which makes it non-slip. Look I'm not here to sugarcoat things, if you're looking at reviews about a menstrual cup you should be familiar with menstruation so here's what led me to this place:I have a heavy flow the first two days. Like, I remember being so happy to learn about Ultra size tampons when they became available and still I could bleed through an ultra tampon every 30-40 minutes on what I usually refer to as hell day. (And yes, my dr is aware of this, it isn't health related just the hand I was dealt) So a friend had suggested trying a cup which she used because she's a hippie and it's eco friendly. I was down to try it cuz it couldn't hurt, in theory it should hold what I need it to and all that. So back then there were way fewer options in cups so I went with the always popular Diva. Now I have always had short fingers. I knew it ahead of time. However what I was not previously aware of is that my cervix is waaaaay up in there and my stumpy little sausage fingers could just barely touch the stupid cup, let alone grab the thing. I pushed, I squatted, I rolled all around, I put a leg up, I did the chicken dance. If it didn't seat properly I ALWAYS had to get my husband involved because there was nothing filling it to get gravity involved. Eventually I sort of worked out a passable routine where if I really pushed against the front of the toilet bowl I could leverage enough of my hand up inside while bearing down to get the thing out. And for all that struggle the cup really didn't buy me that much extra time vs the much easier to deal with tampons. I genuinely gave the diva the old college try, sadly we were not compatible.I gave up but after a few years decided to shop around to see if I could find a cup that might be a better fit, pun 100% intended. I found super Jennie and honestly had a much better experience. I still had to really bear down hard to get a hold of the thing and even then it was hit or miss sometimes, but the cup was bigger and I was getting more like 2-3 hours between dumping it on hell day and that was more than enough to make it worth it for a while. And I was still heavily reliant on gravity to help, basically I needed the cup to be FULL to help me push it out with any kind of ease or comfort, so for the second half of my period the cup was basically useless. But also I still had the issue with it if the cup didn't pop open right where I basically just had to fish it out and try again. All the paperwork and my friend who'd been using cups for almost a decade at this point were like you just kinda spin it and it should open up, but legit there was no way my short ass fingers could get up there far enough to spin anything without it being past the point of no return on its way out.Over time I ended up accidentally breaking the stem off the Jennie so I figured I'd shop around again before replacing it and I found this cup, the Venus. It's listed as slightly higher capacity than even the Jennie so that was an automatic bonus for me, but it's shaped differently and for the first time in almost 7 years of trying to convert to using a cup I can actually reach the thing without having to pop a blood vessel in my eye straining to get it to where I can reach it. Like I can adjust it so it pops without taking it out. I can reach it without smashing my hand bones against the toilet bowl rim. I'm pretty sure I'm already in love with this cup and Ive only been using it for a day.Even with all my struggles I recommend cups as a good solution to period containment overall because I know most women don't face the logistical issues that I do, but now when I do recommend them I can feel like less of a fraud.

I've had this Venus cup 2 years, best period purchase! I'm a tall long-waisted gal with super plus heavy flow especially after two 10lb babies. So I purchased the Venus Large, and still need a liner or thin pad with it. During the heaviest times I can go 4hrs, sometimes 6hrs. Occasionally I don't get a good seal usually when I'm rushed and forget to twist. It's such a relief to not flow over super plus tampons overnight pads having to change clothes and sheets during the night. Heavy periods run in my family. It feels less bulky to have one large Venus cup and a dayliner for my workouts, more ease of mind I can make it without needing a bathroom break to see how everything is holding. And no odor! It is quite messy in the bathroom. A couple times so over-full it popped out while peeing, I had to be quick to catch it or fish it out of the toilet bowl. I have a portable bidet (squirt bottle with angle nozzle) to help with bathroom cleaning myself and power-rinse cup to reinsert. I recommend the largest capacity portable bidet with cold water. Saves space going on trips with only the Venus cup, thin pads/day liners, portable bidet, all fit in my purse. No more bulky boxes of various tampons and pads of all sizes, extra underwear and plastic bags... It's nice to not fill the trash with all those tampons, pads, plastic wrappers/bags and saves money too!

Thank you for sharing your feedback while using the large Venus Cup. We’re sorry that you had some comfort issues with its size. If you find it too wide, you can try turning it inside out to see if it’s easier to insert and more comfortable to wear. It is safe to use this way as long as you are able to remove it without a stem. If this does not sound like something you’re interested in, the smaller size might be a better option for your anatomy. Here is some additional information that might be helpful:
Locating and Measuring your Cervix - https://venuscup.com/cervix/

Here are some tips if you decide to try the large Venus Cup again:

    1. Squat down during insertion and removal -
In a squatting position, aim the folded cup down and back towards your tailbone. The cervix isn't normally located straight up into the vaginal canal. Inserting it as such can result in a cup that won't open completely, leaking, shifting or rotating, and/or discomfort and pressure.
    2. Make sure there are no dents -
After the cup is inserted, insert a finger and feel around the rim or as high up on the cup as you can for any dents.
    3. Excess blood -
There's always some blood coating the vaginal walls even after the cup is placed. To avoid spotting, use a wet pH balanced wipe or cloth to clean the grip rings and stem of any excess blood.

This is the fourth different brand of cup I have owned and easily my favorite one. It is very comfortable! The firmness of the material make it slightly harder to fold and insert but it is well worth it. Bc of the firmness you feel it pop open and you know it's about to catch whatever is coming with an unwavering strength. Easier to remove than insert but neither are challenging. The large size is a great length and fit for someone with a really high cervix and slightly limited mobility due to lower back issues. Would recommend!!

    Couldn't pee
I bought this to try a larger capacity cup because I planned on going off birth control. Everything was good except I couldn't pee with the cup in.

Thank you for sharing your experience while using the large Venus Cup. Although we tried to keep it at a medium firmness, there’s always going to be individuals who find it too soft or too firm. We’re just sorry that you had to be one of them. If you decide to try the Venus Cup again, you can turn it inside out to see if it relieves the pressure. It is safe to use this way as long as you’re comfortable removing it without the stem.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly for one on one support. We’re always here for you.

I've always used pads , I do t like tampons because I've never really practice enough I get and felt uncomfortable but , I'm going on vacation and it just happen to be around the time I'm on my period so I decide to practice and use tampons so I can enjoy my vacation. Of course I had to use a liner every single time so trying to find another solution this came up, AND LET ME TELL YOU I WILL NEVER ISE A PAD OR TAMPON AGAIN !!!! So comfortable easy no leaks ( once you get the hang of it) and it's a one time purchase until you need a new one , with good care in TEN years . I don't write review but I had to for this it's the best

It should be! If you have any discomfort with it at any time, you may need to try different folding techniques, using a water-based personal lubricant, or changing the size.

The Venus Cup is great for a light flow, heavy flow, very heavy flow, when you’re expecting your period but not bleeding yet, or even just to stay dry from discharge!

The Venus Cup won’t have the familiar odor as a rotting disposable tampon or pad. Depending on your body and blood, the Venus Cup may periodically have an odor more like the smell of “iron”. This can be resolved – check this article for more info.

Like with all menstrual cups, there is a chance of leaking. This is a very common problem among new users. It may take time and practice getting things just right, but there are some things that can be done to minimize this from happening – click here for more info!
