The large-sized Venus Cup is perfect for those who have a heavier flow or those who experience clotting.

The large would also be easier to reach for those who have a medium to a high cervix, or a very high cervix.

You may prefer this size if you have a light to moderate flow for the extra capacity and wearing time up to 12 hours.

The large Venus Cup has a capacity of 38ml to the air holes and 47ml to the rim. This is about 30% more than the average large sized cup and is equal to approximately 9 regular absorbency tampons.

Larger cups sometimes lose their firmness near the rim and can be difficult to open.  We have included an invisible secondary rim in which the silicone is slightly thicker near the air holes, as well as an inner ring for reinforcement. Both of these features will aid in helping the cup to open after the fold is released.

I have this cup in my collection and I would say it's okay. Not my fave in my collection. Bought it use on my heavy flow days but it leaks when its only halfway filled. Not sure why. It's too soft and does not pop open easily once inserted. Also once it pops open I have a full bladder feeling which can be a bit uncomfortable at first but then I get used to it.Again , not my favorite cup.

Product is comfortable. I wanted to try a different brand and I'm satisfied with my purchase. This is light weight compared to my previous brand. I think this makes it more comfortable. However, the thinner design makes it a little more difficult to ensure it's in far enough yo get proper fit. Just an adjustment phase I'm sure.

Thank you for your feedback while using the large Venus Cup. We couldn’t be more pleased to hear that it was easier to remove for your high cervix and more comfortable to wear.

As for your slight leaking issue, try wiping the stem and base of the cup after it’s inserted. Sometimes excess blood will cause spotting.

I've had this Venus cup 2 years, best period purchase! I'm a tall long-waisted gal with super plus heavy flow especially after two 10lb babies. So I purchased the Venus Large, and still need a liner or thin pad with it. During the heaviest times I can go 4hrs, sometimes 6hrs. Occasionally I don't get a good seal usually when I'm rushed and forget to twist. It's such a relief to not flow over super plus tampons overnight pads having to change clothes and sheets during the night. Heavy periods run in my family. It feels less bulky to have one large Venus cup and a dayliner for my workouts, more ease of mind I can make it without needing a bathroom break to see how everything is holding. And no odor! It is quite messy in the bathroom. A couple times so over-full it popped out while peeing, I had to be quick to catch it or fish it out of the toilet bowl. I have a portable bidet (squirt bottle with angle nozzle) to help with bathroom cleaning myself and power-rinse cup to reinsert. I recommend the largest capacity portable bidet with cold water. Saves space going on trips with only the Venus cup, thin pads/day liners, portable bidet, all fit in my purse. No more bulky boxes of various tampons and pads of all sizes, extra underwear and plastic bags... It's nice to not fill the trash with all those tampons, pads, plastic wrappers/bags and saves money too!

We understand that first impressions are a huge deal and we’re sorry that the large Venus Cup didn’t start off strong for your anatomy. We appreciate that you will be giving it another try and would like to share a suggestion that might help you have success on your next go around.

It is our understanding that your current cup is very firm. Although the Venus Cup is a medium firmness, it will be a change that could need some adjustment.

Very firm cups can open without interference from the cervix. However, sometimes a very firm cup can be painful or cause irritation if it hits the cervix.

A softer cup, even one with a medium firmness like the Venus Cup, may need to open below the cervix before being positioned. Insert the cup halfway, release the fold, and then push it into place.

We hope that this helps and that you are able to utilize the capacity of the large Venus Cup. Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you need one of one support. We’re here for you!

This was the first menstrual cup I ever purchased. The medical grade silicone is FIRM...it is foldable and bendable..but definitely firmer than other menstrual cups. This style/shape didn't do so well for me as it seemed to not have a great suction and this affected its overall fit and comfort. I was always AWARE of exactly where it was...and almost paranoid about it slipping. There are other brands out there - and I think if you're committed to making healthier choices for your body and the environment, it's worth a shot to try a couple of other brands. Most have coupons available that can take the edge off the price. Once you find the "feel" that works for you...you won't ever go back to pads/tampons.

Indeed, menstrual cups are not a “one-size-fits-all” type of product. Although we tried to keep it at an average length and diameter compared to other well-known, reputable brands, with a medium firmness, it will still not be the cup for every individual. We’re sorry that you found the Venus Cup too firm for your comfort. We appreciate that you gave the Venus Cup a chance and thank you for sharing your experience and feedback. We hope that you find a cup that’s perfect for you even if it’s not the Venus Cup.

In the meantime, if you decide to give the large Venus Cup another try, you can turn it inside out to see if that feels more comfortable as long as you are sure that you can remove it without a stem. This will make the cup shorter and narrower, while also relieving some of the pressure (firmness). Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly for one on one support should you want to try again.

    Hi Eunbyoel Kim,

Thank you for taking a few minutes to share your experience and feedback while using the large Venus Cup. We’re happy to hear that overall it was comfortable to use and had a large capacity for your flow.

However, we’re sorry that you found it sometimes difficult to unfold and that the stem was too soft.

There are some helpful tips in the user manual, as well as Troubleshooting - Venus Menstrual Cup, but this might help also:

A common issue when a cup (any cup) is inserted completely, is that the cervix gets in the way of allowing the rim to fully expand. It can also push the cervix to the side which will cause leaking. Wiggling or rocking the cup down will let your cervix correct itself. Then use a finger to push it back up into place.

Alternatively, you can insert the cup halfway, let it open, and then use a finger to push it into place.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly should you need support. We’re here to help :)

I wish I would've bought this sooner... If you work in a industry where you can't get to the bathroom as much then this cup is for you. Transportation, nursing, delivery, I worked them all and I wished I would've tried this method. My main concern was "that time of the month" smells and leakage. I've had zero leakage, I check frequently because this still new to me but I'll say I get about 2-3 hours on my heaviest days and probably 4-6 on my lighter says. I've been a heavy bleeder so I bought the large cup. I like this cup because I haven't issues with smell except when I'm in the bathroom my confidence is through the roof. I suffered tremendously because of my flow accidents and just overall uncomfortably with myself. But this cup has helped me a lot

    Hi Clong237,

Thank you for sharing your experience with the large Venus Cup. Indeed switching to a menstrual cup can be nerve-racking, but I'm pleased to hear that you were able to get over the learning curve quickly. I'm also happy to hear that it gave you at least a little more time and that you didn't have any leaking or odors.

It sounds as though you are doing just fine, but please don't hesitate to contact me directly should you need any support.

    Best wishes,

    The Venus Cup Team

*Pro User Tip: Although the Venus Cup holds more than the average menstrual cup in either size, if you need to empty your cup in public, a couple of pH balanced wet wipes stored in a pocket or bag, will help you freshen up before leaving the stall.

    Hello Tathiana,

Thank you for sharing your feedback and experience while using the large Venus Cup. I'm sorry that it felt a little too thick. We designed the rim to be a little thicker for easy opening, but we understand that it might be uncomfortable for some users. If you don't have any problems removing the cup without a stem, you can try turning the cup inside out to make it slightly narrower. It's safe to use and might make it more comfortable.

Other than that, I'm happy to hear that it can stand up to your heavy flow and that you get a good night's rest.

    Best wishes. Stay well.

The cup is BIG, guys. If you're just starting out, I honestly wouldn't recommend this cup, because it'd probably be difficult to insert for new user and might even be a bit too large for those with shorter vaginas, or people who haven't had intercourse. Also, the silicone is very firm, much firmer than the DivaCup (which is what I used before). This makes it easier for the cup to open up and stay open once inserted, but it can be uncomfortable if you have a sensitive vagina. And removal with a firmer cup is more of an ordeal, even for someone like me, who has used menstrual cups for years now. That being said, if you've used menstrual cups before and you have a really heavy flow (as in, you can fill up a normal 30ml menstrual cup in 3-5 hours during your heaviest flow), this cup is really convenient. I used to use the DivaCup size 2, but I would still have to change it every 3-4 hours during the second and third days of my period. With this cup, I can get a solid 6-7 hours of sleep before I need to change it. I might get a different cup for the daytime, because this cup isn't the most comfortable, but it's definitely an excellent nighttime cup for those with really heavy flows.

    Hi Emma Li,

Thank you for all of the wonderful details of your experience with the large Venus Cup. Although the Venus Cup is about the same length and diameter of other large-sized menstrual cups, the body keeps that diameter to the base of the cup instead of tapering to a point. This is the feature that allows our cup to have a higher capacity. Indeed, it won't be the cup for everyone, since no cup is "one size fits all".

We also would like to thank you for sharing your thoughts on the firmness. It's always hard to gauge how soft or firm cup is since everyone has a different perception of the feeling even if you are comparing it to a well known brand. Some users do the same comparison and say that the Venus Cup is softer. I don't think anyone will know exactly how soft or firm it will be for them unless they feel it first hand, but it's always good to have feedback.

If the large Venus Cup feels too wide or firm, you can try turning it inside out to see if it feels more comfortable. It's safe to use like this as long as you can remove the cup without the stem.

Either way, we're happy to hear that it at least gets you a good night's rest for your heavy days.

Although you're an experience user, please don't hesitate to contact us directly should you need one on one support.

I really like this cup and I’d recommend it to anyone who has a heavier flow and needs something firm. It isn’t so firm that it’s uncomfortable, but firm enough that it pops open easily, which is especially helpful if you’re new to using cups. If you have a high cervix this is perfect because of its size it’s easier to reach than most cups. The only problem that I’ve had with it is how difficult it can be to get out sometimes when it gets so slippery because the surface is so smooth with nothing to grip. I’d definitely still recommend it though.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the large Venus Cup. We're happy to hear that it has been fairly easy to use, comfortable to wear, and has the capacity that you were hoping for. However, we're sorry to hear that the surface of the silicone is so smooth that it doesn't allow you to get a good grip on it. I hope that it gets easier over time.

Until then, please don't hesitate to contact us directly should you need any support.

An affordable high-capacity cup...Yes! Or maybe not? The first time that I used this cup it popped open easily, shimmied its way up to my high cervix, and stayed there while I slept. In the morning I was excited to remove my cup, and see all that it had collected. I found that the stem is not too stretchy, and can be a bit slippery. If you cup can move like mine usually does, the cup had pushed the stem against my vaginal wall. It was had for me to grab without pinching or poking myself. Finally, I found the bottom of the cup. I decided to give it a squeeze to break the seal. The seal would not break, and the cup had the greatest suction on the bottom of my cervix. It had a grasp that was unrelenting. I hand to get my fingers midway of the cup to squeeze and break the suction. Not fun! The best part: My blood was to the suction holes of the cup after getting 6hrs of rest on day one. This is while my period was light. I had just started that night. No leaks! I have leaked with more expensive cups. Sooo...I did not use the cup again until the next cycle. I knew what I had to do to remove it. Opening had not been a problem, so I knew that I had this. WRONG! I could not get this cup to open properly. I thought that it had opened when it hadn't. Lesson learned. Don't let anyone rush you when you are putting in a new or kind of new cup. One gush 5 minutes after I thought wrong, my thin period panties were covered. Try number 3 and 4 went okay. There was some stamping even after wiping with two wipes. During a heavy flow I can get 5 hours on a good run. I have decided that this is not the cup for me. I have to think way too much when inserting and removing. Plus, I am constantly worried about stamping and leaking. What I do know, it that it has worked sleeping 6 hours without a leak is great for me. Even on a lighter day. Trying g a new cup with an issue of stamping is normal for an extremely heavy bleeder like me. This cup will be great for someone that is not like me. It is worth a try.

    Hello StacieDAE,

I'm sorry that your experience with the large Venus Cup was not 100% perfect. It sounds like it was able to hold your flow, but inserting and removing it should not be this difficult when a cup is right for you.

If you're willing to give it another try, here are some tips that will hopefully help:

    Inserting:

    - Make sure to aim the folded cup down and back towards your tailbone (while squatting on the ground or in the tub). This will help your cup be in the best possible position just under or around your cervix. When it creates a slight seal, it should not move around.

    - If the cup doesn't want to expand, rock the cup down a bit before pushing it back into place. Often when a cup is inserted all the way, the cervix will block the rim from opening completely.

    Removing:

    - If you're having difficulties reaching the cup, squat and bear down with your muscles (doing this in the tub will make for easy clean-up). This will push the cup down so that you can reach the stem or base a little easier.

    - If you're stamping or having some spotting, squat down after inserting the cup and wipe the stem and base of any excess blood.

You mentioned that this is a new or kind of new cup for you. Please understand that there may be a learning curve until you are comfortable with using it even if you've used other cups before.

Since the Venus Cup can hold you over for a good amount of time without a leak, we hope that in the end you won't have to think about how to insert or remove it.

Please don't hesitate to contact us directly should you need one on one support. We're always here for you.

Otherwise, thank you for giving the Venus Cup a try. Again, we're sorry that it wasn't the right cup for you but appreciate that you understand that a single cup isn't for every user.

    Best Wishes. Stay well.
