The large-sized Venus Cup is perfect for those who have a heavier flow or those who experience clotting.

The large would also be easier to reach for those who have a medium to a high cervix, or a very high cervix.

You may prefer this size if you have a light to moderate flow for the extra capacity and wearing time up to 12 hours.

The large Venus Cup has a capacity of 38ml to the air holes and 47ml to the rim. This is about 30% more than the average large sized cup and is equal to approximately 9 regular absorbency tampons.

Larger cups sometimes lose their firmness near the rim and can be difficult to open.  We have included an invisible secondary rim in which the silicone is slightly thicker near the air holes, as well as an inner ring for reinforcement. Both of these features will aid in helping the cup to open after the fold is released.

    Stem is too small:
Very uncomfortable to remove, especially grabbing on to the stem.
    Reply from Venus Cup Team:
Thank you for sharing your feedback while using the large Venus Cup. Although the larger size is slightly longer than some average cups, we’re sorry that you found the stem too short for easy and comfortable removal. Since the body alone is on the long side, we only included the stem to locate and wiggle the cup down until the base can be pinched.
If you decide to try the large Venus Cup again, squatting in a tub or shower will help push your cervix down. You can use your pelvic floor muscles to push it lower even further.
If you have any other concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us for one on one support.

Thank you for sharing your feedback while using the large Venus Cup. We’re sorry that you had some comfort issues with its size. If you find it too wide, you can try turning it inside out to see if it’s easier to insert and more comfortable to wear. It is safe to use this way as long as you are able to remove it without a stem. If this does not sound like something you’re interested in, the smaller size might be a better option for your anatomy. Here is some additional information that might be helpful:
Locating and Measuring your Cervix - https://venuscup.com/cervix/

Here are some tips if you decide to try the large Venus Cup again:

    1. Squat down during insertion and removal -
In a squatting position, aim the folded cup down and back towards your tailbone. The cervix isn't normally located straight up into the vaginal canal. Inserting it as such can result in a cup that won't open completely, leaking, shifting or rotating, and/or discomfort and pressure.
    2. Make sure there are no dents -
After the cup is inserted, insert a finger and feel around the rim or as high up on the cup as you can for any dents. If you feel a dent, wiggle the cup down and then use a finger to push it back up into place. Often, when a cup (any cup) is inserted completely, the cervix gets in the way of allowing the rim to fully expand. Wiggling or rocking the cup down will let your cervix correct itself.
Alternatively, you can insert the cup halfway and then let it open before using a finger to push it into place.
Either way will help the cup open before being positioned directly under or around the cervix.
    3. Excess blood -
There's always some blood coating the vaginal walls even after the cup is placed. To avoid spotting, use a wet pH balanced wipe or cloth to clean the grip rings and stem of any excess blood.

    To big for most!!
    Way too big
    Reply from Venus Cup Team:
We’re sorry that the large Venus Cup did not fit you comfortably. Although the large Venus Cup is the same length and diameter as some reputable and well-known brands, it will never be a ‘one-size-fits-all’ product.
The narrower, small-sized Venus Cup might be more comfortable for your anatomy. However, we invite you to read through the information about cervical height if you found it too long as opposed to too wide.

    Not for me...
Experienced heavy cramping with this cup. The size and capacity was perfect though ?
    Reply from Venus Cup Team:
    Hi Berry,
Thank you for taking a moment to share your experience and feedback while using the large Venus Cup. We’re sorry to hear that it caused some cramping issues. If you’re inclined to try it again at a later date, you can turn the cup inside out to see if it relieves the extra pressure. The cup is safe to use this way as long as you can still reach it for removal. Perhaps you can still take advantage of the size and capacity.

    Not comfortable, would not recommend
Not comfortable, hard to use. I was very disheartened with this product. Sad it was not easier to use, or comfortable, at all.
    Reply from Venus Cup Team:
    Hi Chelsea,

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't have a pleasant experience with the large Venus Cup. Please remember that cups are NOT one-size-fits-all. This may have contributed to it being hard to use or uncomfortable.
If you choose to give the Venus Cup another try, make sure that you are inserting and positioning it correctly. Although the user manual has some inserting tips, I'll share a couple here that may be helpful:
    - The cervix isn't normally located straight up, but more slanted to the back (near the rectum). In a squatting position, aim the folded cup down and back towards the tailbone. This will place the cup in a better position near the cervix.
    - A common issue when a cup (any cup) is inserted completely, is that the cervix gets in the way of allowing the rim to fully expand. It can also push the cervix to the side and cause leaking. Wiggle or rock the cup down to let your cervix correct itself before pushing it back into place.
Again, I'm sorry that the Venus Cup wasn't your perfect cup right from the start. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly if you decide to try it again and would like one on one support.

I have used a variety of cups and this one by far holds the most. I have a very heavy flow the first few days of my cycle and I normally have to empty a normal cup every 2 hours. This definitely gives me a bit more time between emptying. There are some serious problems though. One problem with this cup is how it is very difficult to remove. I have a very high cervix and I can barely reach the tip of the stem. When I find the stem and try to wiggle it down like I can with most cups, I just can't keep a hold on the grip rings. The stem is so slippery and the suction of the cup is so strong it's almost impossible to remove. Also this cup gave me the worst cramps in my entire life. It must've suctioned to my cervix or something. I do really like the instruction manual it comes with though. It is very detailed and helpful if you're a new cup user. Long story short I returned it since the cramps it gave me were unbearable.

    Hi C and D Thomas,

Thank you for taking a moment to share your experience with the large Venus Cup. We're happy to hear that capacity can give you more time between needing to be emptied. However, I'm sorry that you're having trouble removing it. The rounded base might be the culprit. It's one of the features that help make it a higher capacity cup without adding extra length. Although, in your situation, you probably would have welcomed that. Also, everyone will have a different experience with how a particular cup seals while wearing it or suctions during removal. I hope that you can work it out in the end (no pun intended - well, maybe a little).
Although you are an experienced cup user, please don't hesitate to contact us directly should you need support.

    Best wishes and stay well.

I'm a long time cup user and usually stick with my lunette, but was intrigued by this cup because of the higher capacity. I tried it this past cycle and had the worst experience. For the first time EVER, when I went to remove it, the cup was completely rotated so that the stem was pointing the wrong way and unreachable. It took forever and a lot of discomfort for me to get it into a position where I could remove since there were no edges to grab. Thinking it was a one-time situation and being proficient with cups, I tried it one more time and the same thing happened. I don't know if it's the rounded shape or what, but this cup is a total non-fit for my body. Two messes, two stressful removals and an expensive cup in the trash. Bummer.

    Hello Lindsay,

It's unfortunate that the large Venus Cup didn't work for you. We're all different and will have varying experiences with any given cup. We're just happy that you have a reputable cup that works for you, even if it isn't the Venus Cup.
We also apologize that you found the Venus Cup to be expensive. We tried to keep the cost reasonable without compromising quality.

I am 47 yrs old, work out regularly (bmi ranges between 19 and 22), have had 3 vaginal deliveries, still have a surprisingly regular (for my age?) menstrual cycle (just about every 24-28 days, reliably) have a Very heavy flow for about 1 day of my 3-4 day period, and my cervix is positioned high when not on my period. This cup is not right for me! I was able to get the cup in the right position once when my period first started, and once when it slowed down for a minute during my heavy day. Otherwise, I could Not get this (large) cup in the right position, could not get a good seal, and could not remove it easily without making a giant mess. To me the cup was too firm, I couldn't keep it folded to insert and position, the bell shape is not right for my anatomy, and maybe too wide, and I felt achy when I did get the cup in the right position that it didn't leak. I will now try a v-shaped cup, that is a little softer.

I'm so sorry to hear that you didn't have a positive experience with the Venus Cup. The perfect cup is one that is easy to use, comfortable, easy to reach, and has the capacity that's needed depending on the individual's menstrual flow. I'm sorry that the Venus Cup didn't hit any of the marks for you. We're confident that you will find a menstrual cup that checks all the boxes, even if it's not the Venus Cup.

This item is not comfortable or easy to use. I wasted my money.
This is like having a beehive in your vagina. I wish I saw that I only had a short time to return it because I am seriously disappointed.

I’m sorry that the Venus Cup didn’t work out for you. It can take some practice whether it’s your first time or it’s a new cup in your collection. Maybe one of the tips below will help.

    - The cervix is not normally located straight up. Instead, insert the folded cup down and back towards your tailbone while in a squat on the ground. This will help put the cup in a better position under or around your cervix.
    - If the cup will not open, try wiggling it down a bit and then use a finger to push it back into place. Often when a cup is inserted completely, the cervix is in the way of letting the rim expand. Wiggling it down will let the cervix correct itself.
    - You can also insert the cup half way, let it expand (below the cervix) and then use a finger to push it up into place.

If the large feels uncomfortable, the small-sized Venus Cup is narrower. It should be easier to insert and more comfortable during use.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly. We’re here to help you have a successful cup experience.
